                           About 447 Wing - 50 years in 2012

Picture

Welcome to 447 Wing (City of Hamilton) a charter member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association.  447 Wing membership is made up of veterans from Canadian and Allied forces, as well as many others who share a love of country and a respect for Canada’s proud military tradition.
You need not be a member to share in the camaraderie of 447 Wing and we encourage and welcome visitors from all over to come in and enjoy the hospitality.

Our Charter was granted in 1962 and this year we are celebrating all year with special events. We are pleased and proud to continue to honour our veterans, our Air Force traditions and our commitment to community in this, our 50th year.

We are located in Mt. Hope, Ontario, near John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.  447 Wing is a licensed premise with a state of the art kitchen as part of our newly renovated building.
While visiting, browse our extensive display of Air Force memorabilia and chat with our veterans about their experiences while in the service of our great country.

"The Wing" is pleased to offer delicious, "home-cooked" meals in a warm and friendly environment.  Menu items vary daily, so please check the whiteboard at the bar for current offerings and daily specials.  Also click on the link above to view our full menu.

The Roundel Room has a full size snooker table, pool table, dart boards and games tables available for use by all our guests. The Flag Room is available to rent for those special occasions, or just as a free meeting room for your business, club and association meetings. Whatever the occasion, you will be welcomed at 447 Wing.

After an afternoon at the Warplane Heritage Museum, come over to The Wing for a relaxing and warm welcome and to enjoy a delicious meal with us.  We're only a minute down the road.  Try our specialty, Wings, of course, during Wingtime - daily from 5 to 7.

Our Membership Drive is on.  While 447 Wing is open to the public and we always welcome non-members, it is important to understand that becoming a member makes a big statement beyond just enjoying our facility. Being a member means expressing your thanks to, and respect for, Canada's many service veterans who have sacrificed in the past, and continue to serve in the present. It says that you honour and support those men and women and Canada's outstanding military history and traditions. It says that you understand that your freedom was earned and is maintained at an enormous cost to many. Being an active associate member of 447 Wing, even if you have never served, says that you are proud of your country and you want to be part of it and you get it. Please ask at The Wing about joining today.

There's a story about the military pilot calling for a priority landing because his single-engine jet fighter was running "a bit peaked". Air Traffic Control told the fighter jock that he was number two, behind a B-52 that had one engine shut down.
"Ah," the fighter pilot remarked, "The dreaded seven-engine approach!"
